Rebecca Kerry Counselling  is committed to complying with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to the responsible and secure use of your personal data.

I have a legitimate interest in processing personal data in order to provide counselling services. The purpose of this statement is to let you know what personal information I collect and hold, why I collect this data, how long it is kept and your rights over your personal data.

Information Collected

I collect and store information that is provided by you when you enquire about counselling services or workshops. This information includes your name, contact details, your availability and any other relevant information. I keep this data in order to provide counselling services that are fit for purpose, and I am required to retain this data for a period of 7 years in order to fulfill my requirements to my insurers.

Your personal information is not shared with any other person or organisation without your knowledge or permission. Exceptions to this are: if there is a child or adult safeguarding issue or if there is a legal requirement to do so. I will never share your information for marketing, market research, or commercial purposes.

How Your Data is Held
​

I take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information you give me. This includes reviewing my processes regularly, to make sure that I am conforming with best practice.

Electronic data is stored on secure electronic platforms and access to this is password protected. I do not routinely hold paper documentation about my clients, but when I do, this is kept in a locked filing cabinet. 

 

Contact with clients is by unencrypted email, provided by gmail, unless you request to be contacted using an encrypted service. By contacting me you agree to the use of unencrypted email and recognise that it is not risk-free. While I endeavour to prevent against viruses and other harmful effects, I cannot take responsibility ​

Your Rights

If you would like to see the information that I hold about you, please email me at rebeccakerrycounselling@gmail.com

You can request that I correct, delete, or update any records about you. However, I am required to hold certain records for 3 years after counselling has ceased, in accordance with the BACP's Professional Conduct procedure, and for 5 years after counselling has ceased, in accordance with the requirements of my insurers. 

​

In the unlikely event of a data breach, when your personal information has been shared or made available to others without your consent and there is a risk of detrimental effect to you, I will inform you promptly. Where a data breach meets the threshold of reporting to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), I will do so within the appropriate timeframe.

Where you are unhappy with how your data has been held and processed, or how I have responded to a concern or complaint, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).​
